In 2018, a watershed moment in agricultural history took place. Congress passed its quad-annual farm bill, and in so doing, legalized the cultivation, sale and possession of industrial hemp. This enabled farmers to grow and harvest hemp for any number of domestic purposes, most notably the herbal compound cannabidiol (CBD), which is used to make CBD oil.
By legalizing hemp, paper producers now have a new natural resource to exploit for manufacturing paper. Hemp has been used to make paper for centuries, and it offers a number of advantages over timber. In this article, we discuss the pros and cons of choosing hemp for the manufacturing of paper. We will also explore some obstacles to the adoption of hemp as the preferred raw material of producers, as well as some opportunities for its expedition.
Roughly 30% of the mass of trees are cellulose, while hemp can contain up to 85% cellulose. The much higher concentration of cellulose in hemp means that one acre of hemp will produce approximately four to ten times as much cellulose as one acre of timber. Choosing hemp also means that fewer chemical processes (and fewer chemicals) are required to remove the non-cellulose materials. More of the plant is used, and less is discarded.
A crop of cannabis can be grown and harvested in about four months. Trees, on the other hand, take about 20 years to plant, grow, and harvest, a factor of sixty. Trees require a tremendous amount of water, sunlight, nutrients, etc. The relatively short turnaround time means that harvested hemp can travel a shorter distance to the processing plant, as the land turns over its crops more quickly.
Because timber requires more time to harvest and has less cellulose content per acre, you need a lot more acres to produce the amount of cellulose needed to meet the same demand for paper. Timber used to make paper comes from managed timberlands, and to harvest it, you have to travel to land with trees that are 20 years old. This requires additional travel time, labor hours, and fuel.
Hemp fiber is some of the strongest fiber in the plant kingdom, and hemp paper, not surprisingly, is durable and long lasting. Because wood fiber is weaker by comparison, wood requires more chemicals to be cured into paper. These “preservatives” are why wood paper tends to turn yellow and fragile after a few decades.
Paper production accounts for approximately 4% of the world’s energy expenditure. The process requires a lot of water, and generates several unpleasant waste products (such as lignin). Hemp paper manufacturing produces far less waste for the same yield. And the energy cost associated with removing those waste materials is less.
Because Congress took so long to legalize hemp, the paper industry has had many years to develop its infrastructure, and thus it enjoys a streamlined process refined by decades of innovation. As of this writing, the cost per unit is still considerably less for wood paper than for hemp paper, and it may take a few years for hemp paper mills to become competitive. In the short term, wholesalers may continue to turn to wood paper mills to fill their inventories.
For the realist, the positive impact of converting the paper industry from wood-sourced to hemp-sourced is not as great as some suggest. But the impact is still significant. Whether you care about the environment or not, the writing is on the wall.
Although North America’s demand for paper has been in decline in recent years, it is still the highest in the world, and figures to be for some time. Despite the high demand for paper, North America is quite capable of producing all of the paper it needs without deforestation. The United States has developed timberlands for the purpose of harvesting wood for various purposes, and about 40% of the yield goes to paper manufacturing. Despite the 20-year turnaround, these lands are managed in such a way that the USA can leverage its efficient manufacturing process to produce enough paper to meet its demand.
In other words, the plan in place for producing timber is careful to replace every tree, and thus can maintain the 20-year life cycle without having to encroach upon new forest. So the United States does not have a “shortage” of trees, nor is it losing trees. Harvesting trees does not harm the environment, over the long term - at least not here.
Although deforestation is not a problem in the United States, per se, it is indeed a problem across the world. For that reason, we can consider the benefits of reducing the number of acres committed to timber harvesting. If the world can plant enough trees, perhaps we can offset those being felled irresponsibly in countries like Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru. With a quantum leap in manufacturing efficiency for products such as paper, the USA can take part in this crusade, as can any country with whom we share our innovation.
Hemp Surpasses Wood for More than Paper
Remember, the reason manufacturing favors hemp is its higher cellulose content. But cellulose is useful for more than just paper. It is used to make cardboard, cellophane wrap, rayon, coatings, inks, binders, pharmaceuticals, gelling, thickening, and binding agents, and cellulose films. Some of these compounds are used in building materials, some in textiles. With its high cellulose content, hemp is poised to revolutionize the manufacturing of these products as well.
Those with the means to transform the cellulose industry know what that process entails, or can find out in short order. Processing plants will require new equipment and supply chains, with new optimization. In the end, for a new industry to rise, an old one must die. For that to happen, key players must acknowledge it as obsolete. As a society, our advantage lies in the fact that on the other side of that transformation, everyone saves money. Good economic practices will eventually carry the day.
What is our role? We can help this process along by choosing cellulose products (i.e. paper) that comes from hemp. Once enough people embrace hemp as an alternative to wood, key investors will become aware of the trend. At that point, change will be inevitable.

The Endocannabinoid System is an elaborate signaling system that enables cells to communicate using neurotransmitters called cannabinoids. The ECS plays an important role in regulating a number of different neural functions, including motor function, learning and memory, motivation, emotion, pain management, and addiction control. Cannabinoids come in two varieties: phytocannabinoids, and endocannabinoids. As the names imply, phytocannabinoids come from plants, and endocannabinoids are made inside the body. Both interact with the body’s two cannabinoid receptors, named CB1 and CB2.
Under most circumstances, our bodies produce and use endocannabinoids efficiently. However, when suffering from certain health conditions, an individual may benefit from taking phytocannabinoids. Although phytocannabinoids are found in other plants, they are mostly associated with cannabis. To understand how phytocannabinoids like CBD and THC affect the Endocannabinoid System, we first take a deeper look at the ECS and how it works.
Each cannabinoid affects the cannabinoid receptors differently. THC, for example, acts as an agonist for both receptors, meaning that it connects with the receptors and produces reactions that catalyze various processes. Let’s examine these receptors one at a time.
CB1 receptors are found abundantly in the central nervous system, and the brain in particular. They are also located in smaller numbers in peripheral nerve terminals, and in extra-neural sites such as the eye, testicles, vascular endothelium, and spleen. Because CB1 receptors are concentrated so heavily in the central nervous system, they play a prominent role in regulating metabolism, sleep, cellular respiration (in striated muscle tissue), as well as the brain’s limbic and reward actions. The limbic system regulates emotions and moods, and also drives (hunger, sex, care for offspring, etc.). The reward system provides the sensation of pleasure, and is responsible for the release of hormones such as dopamine or oxytocin during pleasurable experiences.
CB1 receptor agonists are those chemicals that bind to the receptor, acting as a catalyst for one or more actions. For example, THC is a CB1 agonist because it binds with the receptor, causing a number of effects in the body. For example, when THC binds with CB1 receptors in the brain’s reward system, it stimulates the release of dopamine, causing the user to experience a “high”.
CB1 receptor antagonists are those chemicals that block access to CB1 receptors, or otherwise dampen activity associated with their stimulation. CBD is a CB1 antagonist. Although CBD has a low binding affinity for CB1 receptors, it still seems to affect how those receptors respond to agonists. For example, CBD seems to modulate the effects produced by THC.
CB2 receptors are located in white blood cells, and other immune system structures such as the spleen, tonsils, and thymus gland. They are also located in the brain, the gastrointestinal system, and the peripheral nervous system. In the gastrointestinal system, they play a role in regulating inflammatory intestinal response, such as with ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS). In the brain, CB2 receptors are associated with pain management.
In the immune system, the role of CB2 receptors is not fully understood at present, but current research suggests that CB2 agonists can suppress immune function. One way this occurs is by the inhibition of T-cell receptor signaling, which can result in a reduction of inflammation and pain. In particular, CB2 agonists may be helpful in reducing neuropathic pain (i.e. pain that arises from damage to nerve tissue).
With respect to both CB1 and CB2 receptors, CBD is an antagonist, not an agonist. That is, CBD does not bind efficiently to either receptor. However, that does mean that CBD produces the opposite effect of CB1 and CB2 agonists like THC. In many cases, CBD acts on these receptors seemingly by modulating the effects of their agonists, which can either mute or enhance their effects. For example, although CBD is a CB2 antagonist, it is highly effective for relieving pain.
Anandamide is a fatty acid neurotransmitter and an endocannabinoid. It binds with CB1 and CB2 receptors, catalyzing many of the processes associated with agonists of those receptors. It can reduce inflammation, relieve pain, regulate emotions and mood, and stimulate other activities associated with endocannabinoid receptor agonists.
Anandamide tends to last for a relatively short time in the body because it is regulated by Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH), an enzyme that breaks it down. However, CBD tends to slow the production of FAAH, thereby reducing the amount of it in the body. CBD thereby enables Anandamide to last longer in the body, and continue to its role as a receptor agonist. CBD plays a similar role with Fatty Acid Binding Protein (FABP), another enzyme whose role is to remove and metabolize Anandamide. By binding with FABP, it prevents FABP from doing its job, and thus the Anandamide is able to remain in the system longer.
Here are some of the known ways that CBD interacts with the body (and the resulting effects they produce):
This may indicate how CBD plays a role in reducing pain.
In addition to attenuating the psychotropic effects of THC, CBD may be linked to antipsychotic and sedative effects.
CBD reduces inflammation in several different areas of the body.
CBD slows the metabolism of anandamide.
CBD keeps anandamide in the synapses by binding with FABP, thus preventing FABP from removing anandamide.
Whereas THC acts on the CB1 and CB2 receptors directly, CBD’s impact is more subtle because it uses the body’s own endocannabinoids (e.g. anandamide) to stimulate the same processes. It produces many of the same positive reactions that THC does, but without the psychoactive effects. It reduces inflammation, relieves pain, regulates mood, relieves anxiety and depression, clears acne, relieves cancer symptoms, and can reduce the symptoms of many diseases and conditions. If you are interested in learning more about whether CBD is right for you, consult your primary care physician. You may be in a position to benefit from using this potent herbal compound.

]]>When consuming cannabis, or a cannabis-derived product, the user will experience the effects of certain herbal compounds called cannabinoids. Each cannabis plant contains about 113 different cannabinoids in different amounts, depending on the subspecies and the strain. The most commonly sought and prescribed cannabinoids are cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Each cannabinoid affects the human body in different ways, and the most profound and health-positive effects seem to come from CBD and THC.
Cannabinoids affect the human body primarily by interacting with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which serves as a kind of signaling system between cells. Research into this area of human anatomy is still in the preliminary stages. However, we have learned that the endocannabinoid system has two types of receptors, called cannabinoid receptors: CB1 and CB2. Our bodies also produce various cannabinoid-like compounds called endocannabinoids, which interact with these receptors in different ways.
CB1 receptors exist primarily in the brain, but to a lesser extent the spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Their purpose is to modulate the release of neurotransmitters, and they are stimulated by some cannabinoids and endocannabinoids. CB2 receptors exist primarily in immune system tissues. Their purpose is to modulate immune response, particularly with respect to inflammatory diseases and conditions.
CBD affects the body via the endocannabinoid system in a different way than THC. THC is an agonist, which means it binds with CB1 and CB2 receptors, stimulating them and spurring action. CBD does not bind with these receptors, and in fact appears to be an antagonist. Not all questions have been answered about how CBD interacts with the ECS, but it seems to produce many of the same effects that THC does, minus the “high.”
Some researchers believe that CBD binds with other ECS receptors that are still undiscovered at present. Some suggest that CBD interacts with the body’s own endocannabinoids, to change which of them bind with CB1 and CB2 receptors, or change how these receptors interact with the endocannabinoids.. In any case, CBD produces many of the same positive health benefits as THC, without the psychoactive effects.
CBD acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory agent, curtailing inflammation in any and every area of the body, to move your body back toward homeostasis. With a reduced inflammatory response, the body can more effectively address and repair damage, be it from injury, surgery, or a medical condition. If the condition has inflammation as a major component (such as arthritis, diabetes, or asthma), CBD may provide serious long-term relief, and lead to a better way of life.
Both pain and muscle spasms have something in common: they depend upon the body's ability to send signals to the central nervous system. CBD interferes with this signaling process. Thus, CBD can relieve pain, and help to curtail seizures, muscle spasms, irritable bowel syndrome, and similar problems.
CBD may act as an antioxidant, and can repair damage caused by free radicals. These qualities combine with inflammation reduction to make CBD an ideal product for repairing damaged nerve cells. If you are suffering from a neurodegenerative disease, or if you want to protect your nervous system from developing one, CBD can be very helpful. It may also help your recovery from a stroke, brain surgery, or other damage to nerve tissue caused by trauma.
CBD inhibits the activity of Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH), which breaks down a key messenger molecule known as anandamide. By inhibiting FAAH, CBD effectively allows anandamide to increase in prevalence. Also known as the “bliss molecule”, anandamide plays a key role in motivation and pleasure. This can lead to an overall greater sense of well-being and comfort, which can relieve depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and other psychological conditions.
CBD may help regulate cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation, both of which are factors in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Also, by muting neurotransmitter activity and encouraging anandamide activity, CBD can reduce stress, a key factor in controlling blood pressure. Furthermore, by acting indirectly on CB1 and CB2 receptors, CBD can allow blood vessels to dilate, thus lowering blood pressure.
THC binds directly with CB1 and CB2 receptors, inhibiting neurotransmitter activity in their respective systems. For CB1 receptors, the damping effect acts as a mild anticonvulsant, helping the body mitigate spasms and seizures. The limiting of neurotransmitters also interdicts pain signals on their way to the brain or spinal cord, thus relieving pain.
THC also binds with CB2 receptors, thus abating inflammatory response - just about anywhere in the body. This is a critical component of using THC for medical purposes: Inflammation is a key element in some of the most harmful medical conditions. If it is present in the patient’s system before or during the crisis, it can be a game changer. (Strokes, for example, damage the brain mostly via inflammation. THC can protect the brain against that.)
The body has CB2 receptors in immune system cells, in certain internal organs, and in areas of the brain responsible for reward. For this reason, THC has been considered as a means of abating the effects of withdrawal from highly addictive drugs like cocaine or methamphetamine. CB2 activation can also reduce tolerance to opioids, which is critical both for coming off of the drugs and for avoiding overdose. THC activation of CB2 receptors also can mitigate the inflammatory response caused by opioid use.
The anti-inflammatory effects of THC are numerous. By stimulating CB2 receptors, the right agonists can key responses that repair neurons and slow their degradation, thus abating the progression of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, ALS, multiple sclerosis, and others. THC can also play a role in recovery from injury, and brain injuries in particular. It can also be a powerful aide in recovering from surgery.
Although THC shows lots of benefits when interacting with the ECS, it does offer a euphoric feeling that gets you “high”. This can affect people differently and does present side effects that could be harmful.
In short, yes. Everyone has a nervous system and an endocannabinoid system. However, each person is an individual and responds to cannabis products differently. If you are interested in learning about how cannabis may work for you, or how it may interact with other products or medications you may be taking, consult your doctor. You may be pleasantly surprised to learn just how many benefits cannabis may provide for you.

]]>In December of 2018, Congress passed the final version of the 2018 farm bill, which legalized production of hemp in the United States. It also legalized the use and possession of hemp-derived products. “Hemp-derived” means that, for the products to be legal, they must be derived from a plant that fits the federal definition of “hemp,” which includes all cannabis plants with THC levels below 0.3% (provided they are grown and harvested according to the language of the bill). Any cannabis products that fail to satisfy the requirements of the bill fall on the federal controlled substances list, and are thus illegal, irrespective of the position that the state has taken.
The following are summaries of each state’s CBD laws. For purposes of these summaries, “marijuana” is defined as cannabis plants with THC levels higher than 0.3%, and “hemp” is cannabis with levels of THC lower than 0.3%. Both plants are the same species. Note that this list is subject to change, and is based on the information available to us as of the date of this article.
Hemp-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Alabama. However, the state has no medical marijuana program, so products that come from marijuana are banned, per federal law.
Both hemp-derived and marijuana-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Alaska.
Both hemp-derived and marijuana-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Arizona. However, it remains illegal to grow marijuana in Arizona.
Hemp-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Arkansas. Marijuana-based products are available to those participating in the state’s medical marijuana program.
CBD products are legal to purchase and use in California without a medical ID card, whether sourced from hemp or marijuana. However, the medical marijuana card protects users who have a prescription for treatment of a specific condition. Also, California restricts the use of hemp-derived products in food items.
Virtually all uses of hemp have been legalized in the state, including purchase and use of hemp-derived CBD and CBD oil. Marijuana-derived CBD is also legal for adults (21+) and those participating in the state’s medical marijuana program.
Hemp-derived CBD products are fully legal in Connecticut. Marijuana-derived CBD is legal for those who participate in the medical marijuana program.

Hemp-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Hawaii. However, due to the explosion in popularity, the state has had some difficulty regulating their quality. Marijuana-derived CBD is available to patients with a prescription, if they have a qualifying medical condition.
CBD products are legal in Idaho only if they are derived from certain parts of the hemp plant, and only if they contain zero THC. CBD products that fail to meet these requirements are treated as marijuana, which is illegal in Idaho, even for medical purposes. There are no state licensing regulations for selling CBD products, so municipalities must approve vendors for selling it.
Hemp-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Illinois. Marijuana-derived products are also available to people with a medical marijuana card; the card is available to individuals with a qualifying medical condition.
Hemp-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Indiana. However, the state has no medical marijuana program, so products that come from marijuana are banned, per federal law.
Hemp-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Iowa for those approved for the state’s medical marijuana program. Iowa still views any other product derived from hemp as a controlled substance, and marijuana-derived products outside of the program remain banned.
Kansas continues to treat cannabis as a controlled substance, although the governor exempted CBD from the definition of “cannabis.” Thus, CBD products are legal to purchase and use, provided that they have 0% THC. Kansas has no medical marijuana program, and due to the stringent requirements of CBD, finding quality products can be a challenge. Kansas’s legislative stance on cannabis is in need of reform.
Hemp-derived CBD products are legal to purchase and use in Kentucky. Marijuana-derived products are illegal, including for medical reasons.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is an herbal compound found in cannabis that provides numerous health benefits when consumed. Because cannabis contains THC, it is considered a controlled substance according to federal law, and thus CBD has remained illegal for a long time. However, unlike THC, CBD does not get you “high.” Fortunately, recent laws have enabled producers to grow cannabis that is low in THC, which can then be harvested for CBD so that people can enjoy its benefits.
Cannabis is a flowering plant with certain psychoactive properties that grows naturally in tropical and subtropical regions throughout the world. The cannabis plant has three different subspecies: cannabis sativa, cannabis indica, and cannabis ruderalis. Every cannabis plant contains about 113 different herbal compounds known as cannabinoids, many of which are used around the world for medicinal purposes. The most famous of these are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and Cannabidiol (CBD). THC is the cannabinoid most people associate with cannabis and the one that gets people “high”. However, CBD is surging in popularity, because it has numerous health benefits and it will not get you “high”.
Cannabis plants are often referred to as marijuana or hemp. However, the law legally defines “hemp” as those cannabis plants with levels of THC lower than the legal limit of 0.3%. At levels this low, hemp is not effective in producing a “high”. To clarify: Hemp is not a subspecies, but a designation for those strains of cannabis that contain lower than 0.3% THC. Hemp is often used to produce CBD.
The law makes this distinction between strains of cannabis to provide some legal leeway for people to grow hemp in the United States. The 2018 farm bill legalized growing hemp throughout the country. However, cannabis plants with levels of THC higher than 0.3% continue to fuel a debate as to their legality. Many states have already approved their legalization, although in many cases there are significant restrictions placed on the consumer’s ability to purchase it. Typically, the buyer will need a card issued by a medical professional, who will only approve it if their patient has a specific medical condition that THC may provide relief from.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is another cannabinoid found in cannabis. Although CBD has psychoactive properties, it doesn’t get people “high” as THC does. Rather, it is used to provide relief from various conditions such as chronic pain, depression, anxiety, inflammation, and heart disease. Harvesters extract CBD from the cannabis plant and combine it with a carrier oil such as coconut oil or hemp seed oil to make CBD oil, a stable form of CBD that people can purchase and consume as needed.
While THC is more known for its psychoactive effects, CBD is more known for its positive health effects. CBD can be used to address a wide array of conditions, and can usually be combined with medications and other herbal remedies, often with great success. A powerful anti-inflammatory, CBD oil can serve as a potent aid for those seeking relief from any illness or condition which results in inflammation. It also helps to restore damaged nerve cells, which is another critical benefit when addressing conditions that produce inflammation.
Because CBD oil does not face the same restrictions as to how it can be sold, people can purchase it anywhere in the country without needing approval from their doctor. Many CBD producers will allow up to 0.3% THC in some of their products to further augment their psychoactive properties, making it more effective in relieving pain. However, not all CBD products contain THC. As people learn more about this extremely helpful herbal compound, the negative stigma surrounding cannabis disappears, and its reputation for helping people becomes known far and wide.
The human body has a system that is designed to react to cannabinoids, known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Scientists have been researching the ECS for decades, and have learned that it is a signaling system that seems to play a role in regulating sleep, mood, appetite, memory, and reproduction/fertility. The ECS has two main types of receptors that respond to cannabinoids: CB1 and CB2 receptors. THC binds with these receptors directly, which stimulates the nervous system to cause a number of favorable reactions, while also producing a “high”.
CBD does not seem to bind with the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Rather, it appears to slow the breaking down of endocannabinoids, which are the cannabinoids produced by the body itself. This enables the endocannabinoids to affect the body for longer. Some scientists believe that CBD binds to a receptor that is undiscovered at present. In any case, CBD oil can benefit anyone, since everyone has a nervous system and an endocannabinoid system.
The list of conditions that CBD oil can provide relief from is long enough that we cannot go into detail about how exactly cannabidiol affects each one. But this list should inspire some to research it. If you suffer from one of these conditions, feel free to call us and ask us how our CBD oil can benefit you. One thing you should know: Whatever condition you have, you can expect that CBD oil will have a significant impact on your ability to manage its symptoms and experience relief.
When taken regularly, CBD oil can help individuals with these conditions. It can help to reduce and/or possibly eliminate their symptoms. Although unproven, there is also evidence that CBD oil functions as an antioxidant.
When taking CBD oil, the dropper will enable you to draw up the exact dosage required. One drop of CBD oil contains about 0.05 mL, so one mL will contain 20 drops. If you are taking it in a soft gel or tablet form, the dosage is specified on the label. Your required dosage will depend on your condition and your unique medical profile. Talk to your doctor about an appropriate dosage for you.
CBD oil is very well tolerated, even in high dosages. Some evidence suggests that higher dosages can lead to liver damage. When side effects do occur, they are typically fatigue, diarrhea, changes in appetite, and changes in weight. There have been a few isolated instances of bad reactions to CBD, however most of these were related to consumption of synthetic CBD.
Your body uses the gut and liver to metabolize medicines and herbal remedies. CYP450 is a category of enzymes that break down such substances, and CYP3A4 is a critical enzyme that performs this function. CBD oil can inhibit the action of CYP3A4, and thereby slow down your body’s ability to break down medications or compounds. When certain medications remain in the body for longer than they are supposed to, they can sometimes build up to toxic levels.
CBD oil doesn’t always have this effect on medications, nor does it affect every medication in this way. Each individual is different, and sometimes the user will have to experiment to get the dosage correct. If you are currently taking other medications or herbal supplements to treat one or more conditions and you are interested in trying CBD oil, talk to your doctor about how it interacts with your current regimen. Keep in mind that CBD oil is an over-the-counter herbal compound, and your doctor will typically not make money when you purchase it.
Absolutely! Because CBD affects so many different conditions, it stands to reason that it will have at least some positive effects after you’ve been taking it for a few days. For example, inflammation is a characteristic of injuries, cardiovascular disease, infections, arthritis, allergies, and many more things. Likewise, depression is a side effect of numerous medical conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease, HIV, MS, and others. CBD provides relief from inflammation and depression, in addition to those other conditions.
As when starting any medication, always seek medical advice. Organic CBD oil can interact with your current medications, and you should ask your doctor about what to expect, and what dosage is correct for you. But if you have a quality product from a quality producer like Sonny’s Wellness, you stand an excellent chance of experiencing significant and ongoing relief from whatever condition you might be suffering from.

]]>If you’re looking to find out more about how cannabis can help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we’ll delve into the ways that cannabis works with the brain to calm PTSD and how CBD can help with PTSD symptoms. But first, let’s better understand what PTSD is and how it affects people.
For most of us, when we think of PTSD, we think of people who have been through scary, traumatic events. We think of war veterans who serve in faraway countries, victims of sexual violence, and people who’ve witnessed terrorist attacks and natural disasters. PTSD is a psychological disorder that happens when people experience or witness something traumatic.
Life with PTSD can be full of terror: flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks, and hypervigilance, which is an uneasy feeling that makes you hyper-aware of the world around you. At its worst, PTSD causes self-destructive behavior and can even lead to suicide. But, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Those with PTSD say cannabis is helping them manage their symptoms and take control of their lives. Now, let’s delve into the ways cannabis calms the mind and lets those with PTSD feel more at ease.
So, the question is: can cannabis really help with PTSD? And the answer is, yes, it can; and there are studies that prove the effectiveness of cannabis.
A recent article on Forbes.com references two different studies on cannabis and PTSD. The article gets down to the nitty gritty to explain how, exactly, people feel fewer PTSD symptoms with the use of cannabinoids. But the Forbes.com article isn’t the only one out there; there are tons of articles and studies in existence that talk about how cannabinoids can help with anxiety disorders like PTSD. Below, we’ll highlight three of the ways cannabis can help lessen PTSD symptoms.
Here's an example: let’s say you get into a severe car accident, and the accident was caused by a speeding, red car. Once you heal and get back on the road, you may be afraid of red cars for a while, but eventually those feelings will dissipate and the association between red cars and trauma won’t be as prevalent. Until, eventually, red cars are just like blue cars, black cars, green cars, and your mind no longer associates red cars with trauma. But for someone with PTSD, the fear and anxiety around red cars doesn’t go away, it doesn’t lessen with time, it just stays there. The researchers found that THC and CBD use controls the brain’s anxiety response and can help overturn traumatic memories.
People who have anxiety and, more specifically, PTSD, use medical marijuana for a bunch of different reasons. Maybe a sexual assault survivor uses cannabis to quell traumatic memories of the event; while a veteran of combat uses marijuana to calm an irritable/anxious mind. So, we know that people use medical marijuana to help with anxiety and PTSD, but does it actually help? What we know is that in the short term, marijuana is effective at getting rid of tension and reducing anxiety. A better solution for people with PTSD is CBD because CBD has the anxiety-soothing properties of medical marijuana, with 0.3% or less of THC, meaning it does not get you high or have any psychoactive effects.
Now that we’ve discovered that CBD is a good way to help with PTSD, let’s explore a little bit more about what it is.
First of all, CBD is an active compound found in the cannabis plant that comes in a bunch of different forms like edibles, drops, capsules, and topicals. There are a ton of different products on the market that claim CBD as an ingredient - but, the truth is, not all CBD products are created equal, just like any other product in the world. That is why it is important to choose a brand you trust.
Either way, CBD is an effective aid for those with PTSD. Why? Let’s just reiterate. Researchers believe that taking CBD overrides the way someone with PTSD processes traumatic memory. We also know that cannabis, and CBD specifically, can help fill the CB-1 void found in those with PTSD. And, we know that CBD affects amygdala processing in the brain. So, your next question probably will be, “how do I get my hands on some quality CBD products?”
We thought you’d never ask! Yes, you can buy CBD to help with your PTSD, and we think you’ll really like Sonny’s Wellness CBD Soft Gels.
But first, here’s a little bit of information about using CBD capsules to help with PTSD symptoms.
CBD Soft Gel capsules are a good way to manage PTSD symptoms, and this is how we know: a 2019 study discovered that those with PTSD who used CBD capsules AND traditional therapeutic counseling had reduced symptoms of their PTSD. ]]>Cannabidiol is a strong herbal compound that has many positive effects on the body. Those who take it regularly often have one or two specific reasons why, and swear by it. However, many users often discover additional benefits that they did not anticipate. Some of these arise from improved brain function; a healthier brain operates more efficiently and delivers results that some users may not have experienced for years. Here are a few of the ways that taking CBD oil regularly can improve brain function.
A number of studies have shown that CBD can reduce cell damage and inflammation in the brain, which are characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. It stimulates healthy neuron growth, and protects against brain cell decline in a number of ways including:
Another important cannabinoid known as Cannabigerol (CBG) seems to offer even more neuroprotective qualities than CBD. Although CBG is present in relatively low qualities of adult cannabis plants, it will be found in the formulations of hemp-based CBD oil if they are full-spectrum or broad-spectrum products. That means if you take full-spectrum or broad-spectrum CBD oil, you will gain some of the benefits of taking CBG. As with CBD, studies show that CBG protects nerve cells in the brain.
The following are neurodegenerative diseases associated with a decline in cognitive function and memory. Because they all involve similar mechanisms for cellular degeneration, a patient with any of them can experience relief by taking CBD oil. The diseases that CBD can provide relief from include:
It is well known that cannabinoids are great for combatting depression and anxiety. It does this by interacting with your body’s serotonin receptors. CBD doesn’t raise the level of serotonin in your system, instead it makes these receptors more sensitive to the presence of serotonin. Serotonin is the hormone associated with a stable mood, and an overall feeling of comfort, happiness, and well-being.
Low serotonin levels are associated with depression. CBD will help to control the symptoms of depression and anxiety, particularly in situations that trigger these emotions. CBD may be an effective alternative to antidepressant medication, as these medications frequently take longer to start working, and have a number of unpleasant side effects.
As stated above, CBD has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, and can protect and repair nerve cells. A number of the conditions that affect mobility are caused or made worse by inflammation, and CBD has a direct effect providing relief from those conditions. Rheumatoid arthritis is an example. So are all of the neurodegenerative diseases listed above.
Inflammation and poor nutrition can lead to nerve damage, as can an injury. CBD’s ability to facilitate the repair and replacement of nerve cells as well as protect them makes it possible for our bodies to enjoy a greater degree of mobility and coordination. Note that it does not take a neurodegenerative disease for a person to lose mobility; age-related nerve decline can cause a loss of power or mobility as well.
Seizures, and other spastic activity, is caused by neurons firing more often than they are supposed to. Although it is not known how CBD prevents seizures, there are a number of different studies that show its effectiveness at reducing seizure activity. Seizures are caused in different ways, depending on the seizure-related condition the patient suffers from. And CBD doesn’t work the same way for all of them or for every individual. Nonetheless, CBD is often an effective way to reduce the number of seizures a patient has, or their severity.
In patients who suffer from sleep disorders such as insomnia, REM sleep behavior disorder, and excessive daytime sleepiness disorder, taking CBD has resulted in a number of positive results. In anxiety patients, most treated with CBD who experienced a reduction in anxiety also showed a corresponding increase in sleep. A number of patients who suffer from insomnia also suffer insomnia-related anxiety, and thus they also saw an increase in sleep when taking CBD.
Patients with REM sleep behavior disorder saw a reduction in related incidents when taking CBD. As for excessive daytime sleepiness disorder, we are still awaiting the results of studies. CBD can help promote sleep in other ways. For example, if the patient suffers from chronic pain and takes CBD for pain relief, it can also lead to better sleep.
Speaking of pain relief, chronic pain is one of the most common reasons why people purchase and use CBD oil. It produces results by acting as an inhibitor of the reuptake of the neurotransmitter adenosine, which in turn enables adenosine to last longer in the body. That’s a complicated way of saying that CBD reduces the sending of pain signals. CBD further aids in pain relief by reducing inflammation, modulating immune response, and improving mood and sleep.
Taking care of the brain is a major health goal for an increasing number of people. We are fortunate to be living at a point in history where we have discovered important herbal remedies that can help repair and restore our brain tissue and enjoy many happy and productive years. Promoting healthy brains is a big part of our message here at Sonny’s; we strive to make sure that the CBD oil we offer benefits our customers in the short and long term, and that they can rely on us in the future. If you have any questions about how our organic CBD can improve your brain health, please give us a call.

]]>If you are a morning person, or even a busy person, you may be of the mindset that the last thing you need is another thing you must remember to do before you leave the house. But then, after learning about all of the many ways you can benefit from taking CBD oil on a daily basis, the gears start to turn. Fortunately, CBD is a stable enough compound that manufacturers have come up with a variety of ways for people to take it. All you need is one that suits your morning (or evening) routine.
On this page we list some of the various CBD products that are available. Here at Sonny’s Wellness, our product line features several options to suit your daily routine. As with any CBD product, we emphasize that the quality of the CBD is of utmost importance; there are many shysters out there that think nothing of creating an inferior product and charging you a premium. Each drop is precious; make sure you are getting your money’s worth.
If you are a coffee drinker, a coffee drop is an excellent way to enhance the flavor of your morning brew while getting your daily dose of CBD. Many companies flavor their coffee drops; some even add a mild sweetener. The important thing is that you are getting CBD oil in a form that is stable and won’t be damaged by the high temperature of your coffee. At Sonny’s Wellness, we make a potent French Vanilla CBD coffee drop that is delicious. It is carried in organic MCT coconut oil. If you want to learn more about this amazing product, you can find it here.
Chewables are gummy candies that contain CBD oil in the formulation. Like any gummy bear, they have a little kick of sugar and artificial fruit flavor. One drawback of these candies is that it can be hard to put a uniform dose in each one. Also, you cannot modify the dosage, unless you feel like cutting bears into pieces. However, these are a great way to get a dose of CBD while you’re on the go; you simply grab a candy, and you’re off and running.
Whether your capsule has a hard or soft shell, it provides the benefit of a timed release. The great thing about capsules is that the manufacturer can combine the CBD with other ingredients to make the CBD more bioavailable, or to enhance the effects. Also, capsules tend to remain stable for a long time while sitting in their container.
Sonny’s Wellness makes two different softgel capsules: Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum. Full-spectrum CBD products contain all of the compounds in the hemp plant, including trace amounts of THC. Broad-spectrum products are the same, but with zero THC. Both products provide CBD that is enhanced by the “entourage effect”, an industry term for an enhanced effect one can experience as a result of consuming a mixture of all of the cannabinoids found in cannabis. Cannabis has over 100 cannabinoids and over 300 other chemical compounds. By taking all of these together as they occur in nature, they work together to enhance the effects of the CBD.
CBD oil drops are one of the most common ways to take a daily dose of CBD. Drops combine CBD with a carrier oil that is easily absorbed into the body and distributed throughout. Carrier oils include olive oil, hemp seed oil, and grapeseed oil. Here at Sonny’s Wellness, we use an organic MCT coconut oil that is highly effective.
At Sonny’s we offer five products which are drops, including our French vanilla coffee drop, and a CBD oil specially formulated for pets. You can learn more about our drops and their formulations here.
Tinctures are just like drops, except that the CBD is dissolved in alcohol instead of a carrier oil. The alcohol provides a different vehicle for absorption, and it also enables the product to remain stable for longer periods of time. Other than that, tinctures are pretty much the same as oils. To consume it, you use a dropper, and place a small amount under the tongue.
Many CBD companies offer skin care products that contain CBD. Because CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory, users who seek relief from a skin condition find these products incredibly helpful, if not an essential part of their daily routine. Lotions, creams, and even shampoos are some of the products that make CBD available through the skin.
Sonny’s Wellness offers a Cooling Gel that works wonders for people suffering from minor or major skin irritation. With a menthol base and alcohol for easy absorption, our cooling gel provides cool, soothing relief from whatever condition you may have. CBD will not cure you of your skin condition. But many people with difficult cases have touted the benefits of using CBD skin care products.
CBD Isolate is a pure form of CBD that is chemically separated from all of the other compounds in the cannabis plant. After isolating the CBD, it looks like a powder, and can sit in a dry container on your shelf indefinitely. The major advantage of the isolate powder is that you can pinpoint the exact amount you need, and separate it into doses. It’s also a versatile product: You can add it to a drink or smoothie, to a salad dressing, to a dessert, or pretty much anything.
Here at Sonny’s Wellness, we offer a variety of products that make it easy for you to get your daily dose of CBD. Each of our products is designed with the intention of providing excellent value to you by ensuring that our high quality CBD remains stable and effective while you are using the product. If you want to learn more about our product line, visit our product page for more information, or give us a call.

]]>If you are new to the world of CBD oil, you might be a little confused if you step into a store that sells CBD products. There are a variety of different concentrations, types and forms, and once you get through all of that, you then have to figure out which brand offers the best quality. This page breaks down a variety of different CBD products by category to help you come up with a short list of products that might be ideal for you.
For the purpose of this page, we will not focus on CBD products made from marijuana. Unless you live in a marijuana-legal state, if you want CBD oil with levels of THC higher than 0.3%, you will have to obtain a medical marijuana card. To do that, you will need a qualifying medical condition, and you will have to visit a dispensary to make a legal purchase. Our CBD oil comes from hemp, which means it is legal to purchase over the counter in most states.
As with any CBD purchase, consult your doctor about which type of concentrate and product are ideal for meeting your needs.
There are three main types of CBD products, depending on how much of the cannabis plant is used. They are:
Full-spectrum products use a plant extract that combines all of the cannabinoids present in cannabis to provide a potent, dynamic effect. By ingesting all of the compounds together, the user is taking CBD in a form close to how it exists in nature, and thus is getting a balanced dose. Furthermore, research shows that the additional cannabinoids present in cannabis tend to enhance the effects of CBD. (This is known as the entourage effect.) Remember: Full-spectrum products also contain THC. However, because legal CBD oil must come from hemp, THC levels must be lower than 0.3%.
Broad-spectrum products follow exactly the same formulation and reasoning as full-spectrum products. However, they have no THC at all. There are a number of reasons why these products are made. One reason is that certain states only allow CBD oil when there is no (i.e. zero) THC present. Also, certain users may have a medical condition that does not react well to THC, like schizophrenia for example.
This type of CBD product is pure CBD. During harvesting, the manufacturer will chemically isolate CBD from the other compounds in the extract, and reduce it to a powder, liquid, or other stable form. This product exists because some users have very specific reasons for wanting to know and limit exactly what they put in their bodies. Also, this form allows people to identify exactly how much CBD they are consuming. CBD isolate is potent, and great for people who want a strong dose.
There are many different forms of CBD products. The form that is right for you is the form that works best for you and fits your budget. Make sure that the dose you are taking provides the results that you are looking for.
One of the most common forms that people purchase, oil concentrates simply combine the cannabis extract with a carrier oil that the body can easily absorb. Unrefined coconut MCT oil is an excellent option, as are hemp seed oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, and olive oil. Taking an extract raw will not do your body much good, as it will fail to assimilate properly into your body. The right carrier oil makes the extract bioavailable so that it starts working right away.
Pure Crystalline CBD often comes in a powder form that you can add to smoothies or other food items, dissolve in water, or even put into a vape pen and smoke. As stated earlier, CBD isolate is potent, and is useful for regulating an accurate dose.
Capsules are convenient; they provide a single, accurate dose, and are easy to consume. Wash one down with a glass of water, and you’re off and running.
Chewable candies are even more convenient than capsules, and are often combined with an energy component. They provide a little kick of sugar, and pack a strong flavor.
Unlike an oil concentrate, a tincture uses alcohol as a solvent to absorb the CBD extract from the plant; the user then places a drop of the tincture under the tongue where it can easily absorb into the system. Tinctures can be 60 to 70 percent alcohol, which means that they last longer on a store shelf. If you are sensitive to alcohol, you may want to consider an oil concentrate instead.
As you might imagine, this is CBD oil in a smokable form, designed to be used in a vape cartridge. The vape pen vaporizes the oil, and the user absorbs it through the lungs.
There are a number of skin products containing CBD that function the same way as traditional skin balms. CBD can be added to salves, lotions, oils, or other products that are designed to help them absorb into your system. If you suffer from an inflammatory skin condition, you may find these products especially useful.
CBD manufacturers also have been known to design hair products that feature CBD. These products enable CBD to be absorbed by your scalp, and may help you have healthier hair.
Like humans, your pets have an endocannabinoid system. That means that they also benefit from taking CBD. Pet products include oils, treats, and even shampoos.
Here at Sonny’s Wellness, we make every effort to educate our buyers on the different types and forms of CBD products available. We source our hemp from only the best growers, and utilize a manufacturing process that makes sure that you get more than your money’s worth. If you want to learn about the kinds of products we offer here at Sonny’s Wellness, please visit our product page here.

]]>CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is found in the cannabis sativa plant. It’s thought to help regulate moods, the immune system and even create homeostasis in users. All of which has the potential to happen when someone uses a CBD edible, smokable or topical, and the neuroreceptors in their endocannabinoid system are signaled to chill out.
It’s no secret that CBD has become exponentially more popular in recent years because of its potential effect on anxiety and moods. Now, CBD is found in everything from tinctures to CBD-infused night cream and CBD-infused chocolate bites.
In addition to its booming popularity, research on CBD is also growing. In this article we’ll explore nine different science-backed studies that say CBD may have potential health benefits. Number 6 might just help you.
One of the most popular and widespread reasons people use CBD is its potential to calm people. The Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry put out a study in 2017 that looked at the anxiety levels of men who were told they had to deliver a public speech. For most people, that could elicit some nervousness. Of the 57 men studied, some were given a placebo, and the others were given 150 mg, 300 mg or 600 mg of CBD, just before they were due to give their speeches. The results were astounding. The group of men who were given 300 mg of CBD had less anxiety than the group of men given the placebo. Even more interesting was what happened to the participants that were given 150 mg or 600 mg of CBD: they felt more anxiety than the ones given 300 mg. What could this mean? Don’t take too much - or too little.
In addition to human studies, CBD has been tested on mice. In at least one study performed on rodents, CBD was proven to be similar in effect to imipramine, an antidepressant.
CBD is found in a medication that helps people with their epileptic seizures. The FDA approved ‘Epidiolex’ back in 2018. Epidiolex uses CBD as an active ingredient to help with seizures caused by two rare forms of epilepsy: Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.
The FDA granted Epidiolex approval after seeing the results from studies that evaluated more than 500 patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. The patients were given Epidiolex or a placebo and the study found that the patients given Epidiolex had less frequent seizures than those given the placebo.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) wages a war in the mind of sufferers, but CBD may offer solace for some with the disorder. A 2018 study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that 10 of 11 patients given CBD had decreased PTSD symptoms. The study followed 11 people with PTSD, giving them CBD and regular psychiatric care over an 8-week period - and all but one had less PTSD symptoms. Therapy is crucial to PTSD treatment, according to Margaret Rajnic, a cannabis nurse. Rajnic recommends that anyone looking to soothe PTSD with CBD needs to do it with good, old-fashioned therapy.
Over the years, researchers wanted to see if CBD could help with opioid dependence disorders - so they set out to study it. They found that when heroin-dependent participants were given CBD, they had reduced heroin cravings and less anxiety over withdrawal. Further studies found that CBD reduced anxiety, insomnia, and even pain in patients with known substance abuse disorders.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating disease, causing the deterioration of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain. As a result, people with ALS lose control of their muscles, little by little until they eventually lose all control. What’s worse is that there is no cure for ALS and we don’t understand what causes it. In some cases, ALS is believed to be hereditary.
Because there is no cure, only ALS symptoms can be managed. Researchers figured out that people with ALS could potentially benefit from the ‘entourage effect’ caused when THC and CBD are used together. In 2019, ALS patients were given THC and CBD in different doses. The study found satisfactory results for ALS patients with mild to moderate muscle tightness and stiffness - and for those with severe tightness, the results were even better. This is just one example of studies showing possible benefits of the ‘entourage effect’.
One Canadian pharmaceutical company saw value in the ‘entourage effect’ and invented Sativex, an oromucosal spray that uses equal parts THC and CBD. In 2005, the drug was approved for multiple sclerosis pain. Then in 2007, Sativex was approved to help with pain in cancer patients.
Even beyond pain caused by cancer and multiple sclerosis, CBD’s potential to help alleviate chronic pain has been the focus of various US-based studies. In 2020, a study found that people with nerve damage had less pain after taking CBD.
A study was performed on 13 people with type-2 diabetes. They were given CBD and a placebo in place of insulin. In the end, the researchers figured out that CBD could be a natural diabetic treatment because, in the study, CBD helped the diabetics self-regulate their insulin levels. These diabetics weren’t completely insulin-dependent, but the study still showed possibilities for non-insulin-dependent diabetics.
CBD can act as an antioxidant and as an anti-inflammatory, according to some clinical studies. Researchers have surmised that these properties could make CBD a frontline fighter of pathological disorders. Researchers look at studies that highlight the positive effect CBD has on people with Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis as sources for this idea.
Arthritis is incredibly painful and relates to the breakdown of tissue in your joints. Arthritis causes pain, stiff joints and could even cause a complete lack of motion, depending on how bad the arthritis is. Usually, arthritis treatment involves pain relief and something to make the joints a bit more mobile.
Sativex is a CBD-based drug approved for use in the United Kingdom. The drug is said to improve sleep quality, and lessen pain for people with rheumatoid arthritis when compared to a placebo. Sativex’s first clinical trial involved 58 patients, all with rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers concluded that CBD has pain-relieving properties and may even be able to suppress disease.

]]>In most states of the union, Cannabidiol (CBD) oil has become legal as an over-the-counter remedy for a large number of illnesses and conditions. Although people take it for a variety of reasons, pain is often the primary symptom for which users seek relief. Many who take CBD oil regularly for pain management cite a number of other unexpected benefits. This page summarizes some of those benefits, and how CBD addresses each issue.
Unfortunately, because CBD oil is an herbal compound, the medical establishment is slow to recommend it as a treatment for certain conditions. Anecdotal evidence from users cites long-term relief from a variety of health problems. But if you want documented proof that CBD oil can cure or treat certain conditions, that proof is unavailable at present. The professionals at Sonny’s Wellness suggest that you give our CBD oil a try. If you take it for pain, we are confident that you will experience relief. And you may also experience some of these benefits as well.
Imagine this: You’re a smoker taking CBD oil for pain management, and after a few days of it, you notice that you’re not smoking as many cigarettes as you normally do. You still have cravings, but they aren’t as severe or frequent. For many people, this is their experience of their cigarette addiction while taking CBD oil. CBD oil not only reduces the cravings for cigarettes in some people, it also curbs how the brain’s reward system responds to various sensory and emotional triggers that would normally make a person want to reach for a cigarette.
These qualities make CBD oil a huge help for an individual who desires to quit smoking. Changing the reward system response is crucial, especially for those who have been smoking for a long time. And for those who quit, there is a period of intense withdrawal symptoms for a few days afterward. CBD oil reduces these symptoms as well. Although CBD oil cannot replace therapy for helping a person learn to understand and manage cravings, it can absolutely complement therapy by reducing those physical urges.
Speaking of the body’s reward system, smoking cessation is not the only addiction that leverages the body’s reward system to keep people hooked. Therefore, it is not the only addiction that CBD oil can help people get free from. It has been established that cannabis is indeed an effective treatment for pain. And many who have used opioids for pain management have touted CBD oil as an effective aid in reducing withdrawal symptoms from opioids.
The analysis cited above notes that cannabidiol interacts with the receptors that opioids use. Thus, CBD can mitigate opioid side effects and withdrawal symptoms while serving as a pain reliever in its own right. This encourages scientists to explore administration of CBD oil in tandem with opioids, both to reduce the required dosage, and mitigate withdrawal symptoms once the patient no longer needs the drug.
Even the states that are most resistant to allowing the sale of CBD oil make exceptions for relief from epilepsy. The reason for this is that CBD oil has proven to be quite effective for many people who suffer from certain kinds of seizures. Although it is not completely understood why this is the case, CBD oil does seem to facilitate repair of damaged nerves while also mitigating conditions where nerves fire too often.
The implications of validating CBD oil as a treatment for epilepsy are far-reaching. Those who benefit from it can stop wasting money on ineffective medications, which cause any number of unpleasant side effects. As more case studies emerge about the efficacy of CBD oil as a remedy for seizure-related disorders, more states will become sympathetic to CBD oil use, and pass laws allowing it.
Data that explores the efficacy of CBD as a treatment for anxiety is incomplete. Preclinical evidence strongly supports its effectiveness in treating generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. However, those observations come from acute dosing, not long-term studies. If you suffer from chronic pain and anxiety and decide to take our CBD oil for a few days, you may begin to notice relief from both conditions.
As with anxiety, long-term studies exploring the effect of CBD oil on humans with Alzheimer’s disease are lacking. However, we do understand much about the neuroprotective effects of CBD, as well as its behavior as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. If the pain you are suffering comes from neuropathy, know that the conditions that produce nerve damage are also associated with Alzheimer’s disease. A 2014 study shows the effects of CBD in mice afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease. CBD oil seems to inhibit four main drivers of nerve cell death in aging humans, and some Alzheimer’s patients take CBD oil regularly for relief from the symptoms.
Those who have studied cannabis have discovered that CBD in some ways mitigates the psychoactive properties of THC, and thus many have suggested it as a potential remedy for reducing the symptoms of schizophrenia. Some people with schizophrenia have taken it for this purpose and found results. However, doctors are quick to point out that there are still many concerns this poses, until it is well-researched.
If you are considering using CBD oil to mitigate the symptoms of schizophrenia, make sure you choose a CBD oil with zero THC, as THC can exacerbate the symptoms of schizophrenia. It is also strongly suggested that you find someone familiar with CBD oil to mentor you, and definitely consult your doctor. Taking these steps will not guarantee you success, but it will put you in a better position to find it.
Those who understand cannabidiol best are aware of its potential in addressing any number of concerns. In the future, don’t be surprised if you hear stories from friends and loved ones who overcame diabetes or cancer while taking it. Unfortunately, peer-reviewed studies lag way behind the anecdotal evidence from users about all of the things that CBD oil can do for you. Just know that if you end up trying Organic CBD oil for pain management, you may discover that it can do much more for you.

]]>The legalization of cannabis, and hemp in particular, has resulted in a number of changes to our society. It affects our economy, our criminal justice system, and our health. Some of the biggest changes concern how we function in society. Legalization of cannabis is far reaching; it affects all of us, and how we view the world. This page explores some of the social impacts of cannabis legalization, as well as what it implies for our current situation and our future.
Recent History and the Law
As of 2018, our country has a new approach to the growth of cannabis as a crop. The 2018 farm bill has legalized the cultivation of hemp, which is defined by law as those strains of cannabis with levels of THC lower than 0.3%. Although this does not include all strains of cannabis, the fact that this legislation affects every state in the union is a landmark moment for the United States.
Even in states with strict laws against cannabis, the new federal protections have made it possible for people to purchase and use products derived from hemp. In most states, people with a qualifying medical condition are able to acquire cannabis products with levels of THC higher than 0.3%. These new permissions have led to a large number of people trying cannabis products for the first time. Many more people have a friend or loved one who has tried cannabis products, and heard a first-hand account of how those products have aided in their battle against various mental and physical conditions or illnesses.
As a result of this surge in the number of cannabis users, our society has experienced a sea change in peoples’ attitude and perceptions of cannabis and its role in our lives. Many more people are tolerant of the sale of cannabis products, and many are becoming champions of its legalization. If cannabis products were ineffective or generated a number of dangerous side effects, then people would dismiss it, or perhaps fight its legalization. However, given that three years have passed since the legalization of industrial hemp and we are still relatively free of controversy, we can reasonably expect that hemp is here to stay.
Many of the positive effects of cannabis legalization on peoples’ well-being come indirectly as a result of related factors. Some of these include the criminality of cannabis, its economic impact, or its reputation. As more states embrace the legalization of hemp and marijuana, their impact will continue to grow.
Although access to marijuana is severely restricted in all but nine states at present, almost all states make it fairly easy to purchase CBD oil. This is excellent news for anyone who desires to consume cannabis for medicinal purposes; users can enjoy most of the positive benefits of cannabis by ingesting CBD oil. Prior to the legalization of hemp, people were forced to choose between acquiring it illegally or going without. Even when it was available, the buyer would have to smoke it to receive any benefit, which is less effective than when using a carrier oil. Most significantly, prior to the availability of CBD oil, most people wouldn’t even think about trying it, as they would not even be aware of its benefits, let alone its existence.
When an individual wants marijuana for recreational use, if they have a way to get it legally (either by “qualifying” for a medical marijuana permit, or by purchasing it in a state where recreational use is allowed), then acquiring it becomes a lot less complicated. Ease of access not only means that more people will make an effort to get cannabis; it also means that those people will not have to break the law to do so. This reduces the negative stigma associated with cannabis use, and affords many the opportunity to look at it objectively. In addition, instead of supporting criminal enterprises, the revenue generated by cannabis will support a local business.
As more and more states have made it legal to use cannabis for medicinal or recreational purposes, local industry has grown. Legal cannabis creates businesses, jobs, investment opportunities, and tax revenue. Also, the health benefits cannabis provides results in significant savings in money that would otherwise go to other forms of medical care, not to mention enforcement of marijuana laws. Marijuana enforcement is expensive for any state, as well as the individual; costs can take the form of lost jobs, lost wages, and legal expenses.
Many people who oppose the legalization of cannabis cite the possibility of users becoming dependent on it. However, the opposite is true: Not only is cannabis not significantly habit-forming, it is often chosen as an alternative to opioids for pain management. In Pennsylvania for example, the governor worked with the state's advisory board to fast-track solutions which have benefited those suffering from opioid-use disorder. Although the jury is still out on the effectiveness of cannabis in treating opioid-use disorder, many continue to swear by its effectiveness, and advocates are well-aware of the potential of cannabis in providing relief for addictions.
Several states that have legalized marijuana have, as part of that legislation, commuted, reduced, or expunged sentences for nonviolent offenders. Vermont, for example, though once tough on marijuana offenders, has become one of the first states to decriminalize marijuana use for recreational purposes. In doing so, many with convictions under old laws have sought a reduced or commuted sentence, or expungement. In some cases, these convictions happened a long time ago, but because they are still in the system, they continue to have a negative impact on the offender.
Other states such as California and Colorado have included similar provisions into their legislation for commutation and expungement. These changes are critical for offenders in these states; many find it difficult to advance in their careers, travel to certain countries, or find housing. This stands to reason: If it is indeed true that laws are repealed for being unjust, then how much more unjust is it when people continue to suffer the consequences of a conviction after the law has been overturned?
As cannabis use (both CBD and THC) becomes more commonplace, the stigma about its use disappears. This enables those on either side of the argument to have a discussion that is objective and reasoned. Research opportunities arise and are taken seriously. Users no longer have to choose between committing a crime and going without. Sellers and growers won’t either.
Perhaps the biggest impact on social life comes directly from the health benefits enjoyed by users. For example, CBD oil reduces inflammation, which leads to pain and a number other unpleasant symptoms. Reducing inflammation alone takes some of the “bite” out of a number of debilitating conditions, enabling the user to enjoy a much higher quality of life. It can also facilitate the user’s ability to seek and benefit from treatment for their condition.
These are not small matters. Enabling a person who has been sidelined with a debilitating condition to regain their quality of life is critical for their overall well-being. It helps them find their joy, and share that joy with others. As cannabis continues to be legalized, hopefully more and more people will give it a try, and share their experience with others.

]]>Cannabidiol, aka CBD oil has experienced soaring growth in recent years. And because of its popularity, everybody wants to know about CBD and what it can do. If you’re looking for information, you’ve come to the right place. We’re going to answer questions like, “how many drops of CBD should I take?” and “how long does CBD take to work?” In this article, we’ll also tell you about the different ingestion methods. We’ll answer questions like, “how do I take CBD sublingually?” and “are topical gels the right method for me?” If you’re interested in the answers to these questions, just keep reading.
There are a few different factors that go into figuring out how much CBD you should take. This depends on:
We always say to start low and go up over the course of a few weeks until you notice a difference. There is no universally-agreed-upon dosage. With our CBD drops we recommend two daily doses of 1millileter each - once in the morning and once at night. But before anything, you may want to get some advice from your doctor about what an appropriate dose for you might be. As always, if your doctor makes a recommendation, stick to it.
This depends on what you’re referring to. Some people call CBD oil “hemp oil” - in that case, yes, they are the same. But “hemp seed oil” is not the same as CBD oil. Now you’re probably wondering, what is the difference between hemp seed oil and CBD oil?
Hemp seed oil is made with the crushed up seeds of the hemp plant. These seeds don’t contain THC or CBD. But hemp seed oil does have health benefits, derived from the nutrient-rich composition of omega fatty acids, fiber and bioactive compounds found within the hemp seed. Isn’t the hemp plant amazing? We think so too.
CBD oil is made from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant and is thought to have a plethora of potential benefits. Legally, CBD can contain up to 0.3% THC. CBD gets made into oils, topical gels and creams, edibles, and concentrates. We’re going to delve more into all of these methods for taking CBD in the coming paragraphs.
You’re not alone if you’re wondering how long it takes for CBD to work. Everyone wants to know when their dose of CBD is going to kick in and help them. The truth is, the length of time it’s going to take will vary. Taking CBD sublingually or inhaling it is going to take the least amount of time to work in your body. Eating CBD, like gummies or chocolate, will take longer for your body to process. Taking a CBD pill or capsule also takes a bit longer than other ways. In the coming sections we’ll talk more about these methods for taking CBD.
Everyday we learn more about the potential benefits of CBD. New studies are constantly being put out about how CBD can potentially help with pain, anxiety, stress, and other health problems. The good thing is, while the interest in CBD has grown, the stigma has lessened. In the not so distant past, people thought the only way to take CBD was to smoke it. And people associated CBD with getting high. Nowadays, there are a bunch of ways to take CBD that don’t involve smoking or vaping. Next, let's talk about the different ways you can consume CBD so we can figure out which way will work best for you.
When we talk about ingestion, we’re talking about CBD edibles like gummies, chocolates, lollipops, etc. Edibles are extremely popular now and are becoming even more popular. People like this method because it’s discreet and they can control their dosage - plus, some of the new products out there are truly delicious. This method takes more time for your body to process and for the CBD to get into your bloodstream and start working.
Sublingual means ‘under the tongue’. If you want to take CBD sublingually, you’ll use a CBD tincture. This method is effective and allows you an exact dosage. It works by squeezing drops of the CBD tincture underneath your tongue. You hold onto the liquid for about 30 seconds before swallowing - and that's it. This method doesn’t have to go through your stomach or digestive system and therefore gets absorbed into your bloodstream relatively quickly.
Inhaling CBD gives you a high concentration of the product and fast delivery into your bloodstream. Inhalation happens through smoking or vaping. To smoke CBD you have two choices, either by rolling a joint containing CBD or by using an oil rig. Vaping will require the use of a vape pen. This is the least discreet way of taking CBD because you actually have to sit there and take your time smoking it.
Transdermal means ‘under the skin’ and, in this case, we’re talking about CBD patches. These patches stick right to the skin and can be applied directly on the part of the body that’s bothering you. Every patch is different in how long it lasts and how quickly it takes to work.
When we say ‘topical’ we’re talking about the creams, balms and ointments you can put directly on your skin. This method is especially good for those that don’t want to inhale or eat CBD, and have issues with certain body parts like sore muscles, aches, and pains. It works by taking a little bit of the cream or balm and massaging it into the body. If you’re using CBD for headaches, apply the balm directly to your temples in a circular motion.

]]>It isn’t just a fad - CBD oil in the kitchen is here to stay, and that’s because people are realizing that plain old EVOO is just plain boring! We’re kidding - we love Extra Virgin Olive Oil, but we love CBD oil too.
In the last few years, more and more chefs - from novices and newbies to the veteran Wolfgang Pucks of the kitchen - are cooking with CBD oil. There’s no greater way to incorporate cannabinoid into your life than by bringing it into your diet - and we too think this is a fun and engaging way to bring some flare into the kitchen.
But before you start whipping up stir fry with CBD oil, you need to know that it’s different from other cooking oils, like avocado oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil or olive oil. In this guide we’ll explain the rules of cooking with this versatile oil, and we hope at the end you’re a little bit more aware of its benefits and also how to use it.
What is CBD Oil?
CBD oil is derived from the hemp plant, which, compared to its well-known cousin marijuana, contains very little THC. If you didn’t know already, THC is a psychoactive compound - and it’s what makes people feel high. CBD contains 0.3% or less THC and some CBD products contain no THC whatsoever. In other words: cooking with CBD oil doesn’t mean you're going to get high while making a delicious dish for yourself or your family.
Health Benefits of CBD Oil
According to a plethora of scientific studies available, cannabidiol has therapeutic perks. It can potentially help with stress and anxiety; it’s also known to have anti-inflammatory properties. Anecdotal evidence has shown CBD may have the potential to help with chronic pain, migraines and even seizures.
Can You Cook with CBD Oil?
Yes. You can cook with CBD oil - but you can’t cook everything, and in the next few sections we’re going to explain what we mean by that.
Cooking with cannabis extract, aka CBD oil, is all about infusing the food so that you can literally eat the potential health benefits. The good thing is, more often than not, using this oil doesn’t change the taste, flavor or consistency of your recipes - at least not significantly.
So, What can you Actually Make With CBD Oil?
There are a ton of things you can make with CBD oil: baked goods, soup, salad, sauces - you can even use it when making coffee or smoothies. Lots of delicious plates can be made with CBD oil. Here’s a recipe for a mango smoothie made with CBD oil - it’s not only delicious, it’s also packed with potential health benefits.
Will Heat Destroy CBD?
Yes. It will. But let’s talk about why.
There’s one major precaution to take when cooking with CBD oil: don’t give it direct heat. CBD oil doesn’t pair well with hot temperatures, and that’s because, CBD oil, like a lot of vegetable oils, oxidizes quickly when it gets warm. This leads to your food having a bitter, nasty taste. So, the trick is to avoid direct heat, and instead look for recipes where you can bake or add the oil in cold. Most people think cooking with CBD means stir frying veggies or frying an egg - but this simply isn’t so.
In addition to ruining your dinner, heating CBD oil may take away any of the health benefits that come from it. That’s why it’s not even recommended to sautee with CBD oil. In fact, directly exposing CBD to temperatures more than 350º Fahrenheit might just ruin it altogether. And since most people cook with CBD oil in order to derive potential health benefits from its use, taking those potential health benefits away doesn’t really benefit anyone.
No-Heat CBD Recipes
Even better than cooking with it, CBD oil is an excellent finishing oil - add it to your salads, drizzle it on your veggies, toss it with sesame, sunflower and cranberry for a delectable topping. It’s also an excellent oil for making salad dressings. Here’s a recipe for strawberry vinaigrette dressing that uses CBD oil.
Using it as a finishing oil will give you all of the potential health benefits available, while allowing the taste to get through and your palate to scream “Yum!”
What are other examples of no-heat dishes? Think: guacamole, salad, and cold deserts like mango over cold sticky rice.
Of course, cooking with CBD is excellent too - just as long as the oil isn’t heated alone. One way to use CBD oil is in baked goods - and that’s because, in the oven, the heat makes its way through all of the food. Only when heated directly does the taste become bitter and the potential health benefits spoil. Here’s an excellent recipe for dark chocolate and nut cookies that incorporate CBD oil, which, in this recipe they call, THC oil.
Tips for Cooking with CBD Oil
Our number one suggestion is to use high-quality, organic CBD oil. If you can find CBD oil with a certificate of authenticity, that’s excellent too.
The second most important thing to know, and we said it above as well, is that CBD oil should not be directly heated. We’re reiterating this because of how important it is. Heating CBD oil directly will lead to bitter tasting food and a lack of any of the potential health benefits you were trying to incorporate CBD oil into your diet for in the first place.
Also, your CBD Oil should be food-grade.
It’s also important to know this: CBD works best when recipes have fat content. You can mix a few drops of avocado oil or coconut oil in with the CBD oil, then add the mixture to your salad for a uniquely yummy meal packed with potential health benefits. Don’t be afraid to mix oils, this adds a delicious element to your cuisine.
How to Store CBD Oil
When dealing with food ingredients, storage is always important. This is also true of CBD oil. For the most part, CBD oil will come in a blue or amber bottle - this color was chosen on purpose in a move to lengthen the life of your oil. These colors are able to filter light, which would otherwise degrade the oil and risk the chance of losing cannabinoids. Your home’s pantry is the perfect place to keep your oils - and that’s because your pantry is likely cool, dry and dark.
Always remember to tightly close the top of your CBD oil - and keep it away from the oven or stove. That’s because ambient heat, light, and exposure to air will have an affect on your CBD oil.
While we’re talking about food, we figured we’d introduce you to one of our top selling products: our French Vanilla CBD Coffee Drops. But first, let us introduce ourselves. Now let’s get down to business. Down below we're going to explore each and every zodiac sign and what the absolute ideal CBD present for that zodiac will be. We’ll base our predictions on the lifestyle and personality traits associated with that zodiac sign. Let’s get predicting!
The CBD Products for Each Zodiac Sign
Capricorn (December 22- January 19)
Help them relieve stress with a CBD Tincture.
Capricorns are known perfectionists. They’re hardworking, determined, and always in pursuit of perfection. Here’s another thing: they’re loyal. In fact, Capricorns are known to be the most loyal of all the Zodiacs. They’re determined, highly ambitious people with an incredible work ethic.
Capricorns demand success for themselves; and this type of self-determination comes with oodles of stress. It’s inevitable. And the worst part is, hard working Capricorns have a hard time setting work aside and focusing on themselves.
A CBD tincture makes destressing easy. It’s also one of the most effective ways a person can take CBD. With a tincture, you put the CBD under your tongue and it gets absorbed into the body. It’s easy and effective - perfect for your Capricorn family and friends.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
Help them get the party started with CBD-Infused Wine.
Aquarians have a humble nickname: the humanitarians of the Zodiac. They were given the moniker because of their tendency to be kind, generous, eccentric, friendly, and laid back. Aquarians are people-people. They’re the social butterflies of the Zodiac - known as the people who are quick to put a smile on your face with kindness and whit.
We say the best way to honor your Aquarian loved one is to give them a bottle of CBD wine.
Wine is a party in a bottle. Friends, conversation, ideas - these are all things Aquarians love. Consequently, these are also the things a bottle of wine can get flowing.
The other thing about CBD-infused wine is that you don’t see it everyday. You can’t go into every corner liquor store and find yourself a bottle. Aquarians strive for individuality and uniqueness. That’s why this harder-to-find libation will be an excellent gift for your water-bearing loved ones.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
Help them continue to daydream with Smokable Hemp.
Pisces are daydreamers. With their head in the clouds and their feet on the ground, they’re easily lost in daydream. They’re also known for being adaptable and understanding. Pices, the twelfth sign of the Zodiac, are known to be people with an open mind and a relatable attitude.
Pisces work through challenges with ease; and they know how to take a deep breath. That’s why the best gift for them is something that can help them take that deep breath. Smokable Hemp is a top notch present for your darling Pisces.
Aries (March 21- April 19)
Help them in their mission to be trendy and fierce with a CBD Vape.
Aries are known to be fun-loving, fiery, and fierce. At the same time, they’re known for being passionate and strong.
Why is a CBD vape the perfect gift for an Aries? Vapes are trendy! That’s right, they’re trendy, and new, and for a cutting-edge Aries, this is the perfect way to consume CBD. Aries are attracted to anything new and exciting - the trendier the better. That’s what makes CBD vapes the perfect present for your Aries loved one.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Help them be luxe with CBD Chocolate.
Taurus’ love luxury. They are truly an extravagance-loving sign. They love to curl up on the coach and indulge with a sweet treat. Of all your family and friends, they're the most likely to get a kick out of a fun, indulgent gift - something trendy, relaxing, sweet and delicious. We’re thinking CBD chocolate is the perfect gift for your lux-loving Taurus friends.
Another reason chocolates are a great gift for Taurus’ is that this is a sign prone to outbursts of anger. Stay away when they’re mad. We figure CBD chocolate is a present nobody could get mad at. The only problem with CBD chocolate is, try not to eat too much.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Help them re-focus with CBD Gummies.
Geminis are often misunderstood. This is because they’re natural, patient, and they wear their heart on their sleeves. They also tend to make lemonade out of lemons. When people see genuine-ness like this, they tend to think it’s an act. With Geminis it isn’t an act. It’s the real deal.
They’re also incredibly flexible - and their flexibility is the fuel that gives them courage to take on anything. The downside to the flexible nature of the twin zodiac is that they need to remember to re-focus. Sometimes they become scattered in their ideas.
The perfect way to help your Gemini friends is to offer them a CBD gummie - or better yet a full month’s supply. That's what makes CBD gummies the perfect gift for Geminis.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Help them nurture their sensitive side with a CBD Bath Bomb.
Cancer is a water sign. The people that fall under this zodiac sign are sensitive and they know how to cry. Ruled by the maternal moon, Cancers are also nurturing and compassionate.
There is no more relaxing way to take CBD than with a CBD bath bomb. Luxurious, relaxing, fragrant - these bath bombs will completely overhaul a boring bath. Not that Cancers take boring baths. Bathtime is a favorite ritual for Cancers, who love to indulge in all of the bathing accoutrements like a big fluffy robe, slippers, and mood music in the background.
CBD bath bombs are becoming popular - especially among health and beauty influencers. That makes this the best gift for your Cancer pals.
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
Help them flirt it up with a CBD Cream.
Leos are natural born flirts. They’re larger than life and they look for inspiration inside themselves. This makes them the best leaders. Another good quality of a leader is self-awareness - and this sets Leos apart from other Zodiac signs.
Now, back to the flirtiness. Leos are natural flirts and they love nothing more than enjoying their time and helping others enjoy their time as well. CBD Cream helps Leos play up their natural flirtiness. These creams help them stay feeling young, fresh and moisturized.
Leos also love their routines. Nothing ends a nightly routine better than a smattering of cream rubbed into the body. Also, CBD Cream can be targeted to specific parts of the body. Your Leo loved ones will be happy with what you got them this year when they open a box of CBD cream from you.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
Help them enjoy the simple things with CBD-Infused Tea.
Virgos are known to be hard-working and dedicated. They enjoy the small things and truly get a lot of happiness from their lives. Some of this is caused by the fact that they’re an earth sign. As earth signs, they find beauty in nature. They enjoy walking outdoors, hiking, and listening to animals scurrying around. This is their way of taking a break - but sometimes they forget to.
For most of us, tea is an excellent way to press pause. Tea, with its warm, calming, soothing properties, brings drinkers the sense that time has stopped. Virgos relish in relaxation. Virgos are also neat, organized and orderly - and tea calms the mind when things seem to spiral out of control.
We think your Virgo buds will truly enjoy a package of CBD-infused tea.
Libra (September 23 – October 22)
Help them remain harmonious with CBD Water.
Libras are known as the scales of the zodiac. They’re balanced, harmonious lovers of life. They’re the type that understand all perspectives. They’re also naturally charming, and they attract every type of person with their whit and flirtatious magnetism.
CBD water is the perfect gift for a Libra for many reasons. The biggest reason is that it’s a unique product and it’s not very common. Libras like to be on the cutting edge. They like to be the first ones to do something.
Also, like most Libras, CBD water is magnetic. It tends to draw in a crowd. Libras love a crowd, especially one filled with people who want to hear their perspective.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
Help them stay classic with CBD Oil.
Scorpios are a combination of many things. They’re strong, sensitive, stubborn, emotional, loving, and loyal. Most of all they’re mysterious - and that’s what draws people in. Everyone loves a good mystery.
Because Scorpios have a unique mix of traits, we know they’re a rare breed. The rarest of the rare, in fact. Scorpios are classic. They’re the tried and true, tested originals - and we love them for it.
Just like CBD oil, Scorpios are the Original Gangster. The OG. They’ll never be replaced. You’d never call a Scorpio vanilla. They’re classic, like Coca-Cola - and that’s ok with us. Your Scorpio amigos will love you forever if you get them a classic bottle of CBD oil.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Keep them going with CBD Capsules.
Sagittarius are incredibly open minded. Any CBD product would have been ok with them - and that’s because they’re not picky. They’re also the type that will find peace with anything that life gives them.
Our Sags love making friends, traveling and they certainly love to be busy - and that’s why we think they’ll enjoy CBD capsules.
There’s nothing better for a friend on the run than something quick and easy. When life is busy, CBD capsules are the best bet. For those who are always on the go CBD caps keep them going. They’re great for Sagittarius, who are always running to the next appointment, and need a pre-measured dosage of CBD to be accessible whenever needed.

They say, “Dogs are man’s best friend.” Ask any pet owner and they’ll agree. Our pets are more than pets - they’re family. We spare no expense to make sure their needs are met. Perhaps the most important need we try to meet as pup parents are the health and wellness needs our four-legged friends have.
For most of us with fur babies, the time will eventually come when we decide to research CBD products for our pets, and the truth is, there’s a ton of information out there, but is it all true? In this article we’ll explore this topic and by the end we hope you’ll get a better understanding of everything there is to know about CBD oil for dogs.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil, also known as cannabidiol, is a compound derived from the cannabis and hemp plants. It’s widely known that THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) is the compound that gives marijuana its psychoactive properties aka the ‘feeling of being high’ - but CBD contains 0.3% or less THC and some CBD products don’t contain any THC at all. So, the first thing to know about CBD oil and your pets is that you don’t have to worry about them getting high from taking it.
How Does CBD Affect Dogs?
At this point in time, there haven’t been any studies done to see how CBD really affects dogs. What we do know is this: scientists recognize that cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid receptors. These receptors help the body and mind remain balanced from their location in the center and periphery of our nervous systems. This is what we know about our bodies, and so we take that knowledge and apply it to our pets.
For Dogs, What Health Problems can CBD Help with?
While we don’t have definitive scientific data testifying to CBD’s effectiveness in regard to dogs, we do know that many dog owners use CBD on their pets in order to treat pain and even help control seizures. Dog owners also use CBD for its potential benefits to the cardiovascular system, as well as its anti-nausea effects, and anti-anxiety effects. CBD also has potential anti-inflammatory properties and may stimulate your dog’s appetite.
Even though studies are lacking currently, the future looks brighter for understanding CBD’s impact on dogs - especially when it comes to studying how CBD works on dogs with epilepsy.. The American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Health Foundation (CHF) is slated to sponsor a study, in coordination with Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, which will evaluate how CBD interacts with dogs who have epilepsy and no other treatment has worked. CHF believes this is the first time a study is being done to gain scientific data on how CBD works with dogs who have epilepsy and are treatment-resistant.
CBD in Dogs: Possible Side Effects
If you’re wondering whether CBD oil is ok to use on your fur babies, we believe the answer is yes! We understand from pet owners that CBD oil is well-tolerated. Although the FDA hasn’t yet classified CBD as GRAS, or ‘generally recognized as safe,’ the science available to us at this point indicates that CBD, at certain doses, can be appropriately safe when used on dogs. Now, let’s talk about some possible side effects. Here are the most common:
Of course, as we stated above, the risks haven’t been researched yet and the FDA hasn’t approved CBD as a treatment for dogs or issued information about dosing. This is why we always say to 1) check with your veterinarian first. Make sure they’re on board and never start any vitamin, supplement or any other ritual without their knowledge; and 2) start small: dose small in the beginning and as you begin to understand how your dog is reacting, increase the dosage.
CBD Products on the Market
Of course, before you start your dog on any vitamin or supplement, a call with their veterinarian is always a good first step. Once that conversation happens, there are a few important things to consider as you figure out which CBD oil is best for your pet. Perhaps the most important piece of information is that not all CBD oils are created equal - high quality CBD is better for so many reasons, but perhaps the biggest reason is that better quality CBD means a better chance of it working.
How do you know if it’s high quality CBD? Try to find organic CBD products. Why? When CBD oil isn’t organic it may contain pesticides and other impurities, like fungicides, herbicides, heavy metals or solvents. You want to make sure the CBD oil you're using on your pets doesn’t have these contaminants.
Here’s another trick: Instead of buying your dog CBD dog treats, find a high quality CBD oil and administer it on your own. This allows you to have control over your dog’s dosage - and that freedom is important especially in the beginning when you’re trying to figure out exactly how much CBD your dog is or isn’t responding to.
Next up, we’d like to introduce ourselves and also introduce one of our best selling products: Pet CBD & Fish Oil, which is specifically made for your fur babies with naturally derived, THC-free CBD as well as Fish Oil.
